FROG DIG V1.1 POST JAM UPDATE

Thanks to everyone for playing the game! I had a blast participating in the jam and playing everyone's games!

This update was put together with a focus on polishing and maintaining what was done in the jam period, but while fixing bugs, rebalancing the game, and implementing new quality of life features! 

The 1.0 jam version is still playable, and available for download! (With a slight patch to make it actually beatable).

MAJOR CHANGES:

  • New WASD control options, and other control improvements!
  • New saving and loading system! Save icon will pop up when the game saves, one save per browser.
  • Reworked tutorial to improve wording and function, add new information, and increase interactivity!
  • Adjusted difficulty and balance all around. Almost all enemies have had touch ups and adjustments!
  • Quota count down will now only begin after the first successful extraction!
  • Quota now increases faster, and sell prices for all items were adjusted.
  • Special money drops added! Ores and buried treasures now can drop small money piles. These let you get some extra cash to extract with, but are mainly used to make buying items mid-run more viable.
  • Game can now be paused with P, and has a proper menu with control info. 



OTHER CHANGES:

  • Gun Crabs, Shotgun Crabs, and Pistol Crabs no longer get stuck in walls (Those little scamps)!
  • Improved tells for lots of enemy attacks. This include particles and sounds.
  • Adjusted late-staged enemies and added "stun" phases to give  extra breathing room for players.
  • Lots of minor art and sound adjustments to improve feedback in lacking areas.
  • Fixed buried treasure bug where not everything on the drop pool was working, and adjusted drop rates accordingly.
  • Fixed shirt/skin color changer bug where it would almost always change color to white instead of randomly. And added some new colors while I was at it :)
  • Exit finder now reveals buried treasure spots for a short period, to give it additional usage.
  • Improved enemy, object, and ladder spawning to spawn further apart, so things are less likely to spawn too close to each other.
  • Dodge energy will slowly generate passively, to help newer players get shields more often.
  • Added title pop ups when entering new biomes!
  • Added music to the Dustbowl biome (Didn't realize I forgot it in the jam lol).
  • Changed music in the Crimson Pit to a more fitting track.
  • Minor art and sound adjustments. Mainly in the hub and on the UI.
  • Other minor bug fixes and adjustments.
